Chandigarh, March 11:
Arm licences of two bodyguards of Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh issued by the J&K government have been cancelled.
The two bodyguards to lose their arms licence are Varinder Singh and Talwinder Singh.
Varinder Singh is retired from 19 Sikh Regiment whereas Talwinder is an ex-serviceman retired from 23 Armoured Punjab.
The deputy commissioners of Ramban and Kishtwar districts in J&K have formally issued the orders to this effect asking the Punjab Police to recover the weapons and the licences from them with immediate effect.
Varinder Singh was arrested by the Punjab Police last Thursday from his village in Tarn Taran district in connection with a video that showed him opening fire in the air.
The police had registered an FIR on January 18.
The Punjab government had recently ordered review of all arms licenses issued till date in the next three months even as the Home department issued instructions that no new arms licence will be granted unless the deputy commissioner is personally satisfied that exceptional grounds exist for a person to keep arms in his possession.
