Chandigarh:
Even as the Shiromani Akali Dal is battling with its worst-ever existential crisis it is the absence of Bikramjit Singh Majithia from the entire narrative that has become quizzical.
Does it indicate prolonging fratricidal war within the Badal family or is it just a case of deliberate withdrawal ?
Coming close on the heels of expulsion of Adesh Pratap Singh Kairon, who happens to be the brother-in-law of SAD president Sukhbir Badal, from the party in the wake of the Lok Sabha election campaign, is there a warning for Majithia as well ?
Even in the Akali circles it is being widely talked about what possible reason could be for Majithia to be so quiet in this period of crisis.
The fact that Majithia , who has been very popular for his articulation and calculated aggression and now conspicuously missing to lend his voice to the party at this critical juncture is being talked widely in the Akali circles in a hush-hush manner.
More so, at a time when a group of dissidents have raised a banner of revolt against the leadership of Sukhbir Badal.
Instead, it is Harsimrat Kaur, MP from Bathinda and wife of SAD president Sukhbir Badal, who normally keeps a low profile in public discourse has suddenly become more vocal.
When contacted, the party sources said Majithia was "busy attending to his mother"" in Delhi.
But it is intriguing that he has so suddenly gone into the backdrop of the party after having led from the front row till recently.
Even during the campaign of the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, where Anil Joshi was the SAD nominee, Majithia kept himself limited to just the Majithia Assembly constituency for campaigning, which, incidentally is represented by his wife.Ganieve Grewal.
It is not that very many Akali leaders are vocal at this time, but it is the silence of Majithia, who has always been the right hand man of Sukhbir Badal, which has rattled the political circles.
